Timeout introduced?!!
OK, really annoyed but not ranting
Has Anet introduced a timeout recently?
Twice "in the same mission" i have left my computer for a short while to make a drink and go to the toilet and have been disconnected from the game (Err=7).
I can understand Anet wanting to cut server load by using this system but honestly, if it is a timeout, it's damned short indeed.
It could be a little longer!!!1
Has anyone got any info on this?
I haven't heard anything or read about it so i thought i'd ask you guys....

somone got a err=7 message during the meeting today.. but personaly i have not got it in a while.. when my game crashes it normaly sits on the loading screen for 10-15 minutes before i get bored of looking at what ever background it may be..
as for what it is.. my guess is an error.. every game has them so i guess it can't be helped. My guess is just bad luck..

I've been getting ALOT more Err=7's lately. Driving me insane, but eventually they go away.
Oh and Sanji, I'm not sure what you're pointing to with that link, but all I get is:

It was a search for err=7, but I guess the search logs aren't permanent.

Err=7 is not a "timeout" It's an error with your computer not being able to run GuildWars I believe. It happened to me in the middle of playing.

I thought error 7 is a connection timeout, which usually happens if you are playing GW over a wireless connection. I remember someone mentioning that you can configure your wireless router/access point to give priority traffic to the GW program and the problem mostly goes away. If you are *not* on wireless and are getting error 7, I hope that means your ISP is having a temporary problem and not that they have introduced AFK disconnection timeouts in the game

Yep. The problem isn't with GW, it's with the router

I haven't gotten any errors lately...the only time I've gotten an error 7 actually is when my internet/cable went down.

error 7 happens to me when i'm lagging awfully [my isp fault, not Anet], I doubt it has to do anything with timeouts, Anet already offers very generous timeouts a compared to other games i've played.

I use to disconnect after going afk before. (long time ago).
Now, I usually do a /dance before I go, so it's moving at least and Anet doesnt kick me out. (not sure if it still kicks you if you afk for a long period of time though, since ive been leaving the emote on).
-cheers.

Err=7 is most likely something akin to "Software caused connection abort" or "Connection reset by peer." It could also be a major desynch in the server<->client frameslice.

Good luck, asking support about their error numbers.
I once got error=40.
All I got from them was: it's network related.
What else is new?

I got two Err=7 messages at the end of August. First was ISP maintance and second is unknown. Maybe it was GW servers or ISP. Didn't find out the reason. There was one Err=7 at the beginning of July when I was pre-searing with second char. That is all err=7 messages I have got since May when I bought this game. I play GW daily.
It is very likely that GW servers are not causing this.
